Intended use
The Fluorescent Immunoassay LH POCT kit is used for in vitro quantitative detection of luteinizing hormone (LH) in human whole blood, serum, and plasma. This product can play an auxiliary role in clinical diagnosis.
Summary
Luteinizing hormone (LH) is a glycoprotein gonadotropin produced by the pituitary gland. In women, luteinizing hormone causes ovulation, which causes the corpus luteum to produce steroid hormones (estrogen and luteinizing hormone). Small amounts of luteinizing hormone are also necessary to promote estrogen production by mature follicles. In males, it stimulates stromal (Leydig) cells to produce androgens and estrogens. Circulating luteinizing hormone levels are controlled by negative feedback effects of steroid hormones on the hypothalamus. Both sexes are required for normal sexual function, although LH secretion differs between the sexes, and LH is secreted in pulses, fluctuating sharply throughout the reference range.
The clinical significance of luteinizing hormone, if the levels of luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone increase, it indicates pituitary gonadotropic adenoma, premature ovarian failure, gonadal hypoplasia, seminiferous tubal hypoplasia, complete precocious puberty, etc. Conversely, if the level decreases, it indicates pituitary amenorrhea, hypothalamic amenorrhea, and incomplete precocious puberty.

For diagnostic purposes, the test results should be used in combination with clinical examination, medical history and other test results.
