Intended use

The Fluorescent Immunoassay PRL POCT kit is used for quantitative determination of prolactin in human serum, plasma and whole blood samples in vitro.

Summary

Prolactin (PRL) is a protein-like hormone secreted by pituitary lactation cells. It is mainly regulated by neuroendocrine, and its function is to promote the secretion of milk by the mammary gland. Prolactin has the physiological activity of promoting the secretion of milk by mammary gland. As a cytokine to regulate mammary gland development, promote milk production, initiate and maintain lactation. However, if various factors lead to pathological increase of human serum prolactin value, there will be abnormal lactation phenomenon, clinically known as galactorrhea. When prolactin level is too high, ovulation is affected. At the same time, it can inhibit the synthesis of progesterone in granulosa cells, resulting in reduced progesterone secretion, sexual dysfunction, galactorrhea, amenorrhea and infertility symptoms. Increased PRL level is also seen in precocious puberty, primary hypothyroidism, premature ovarian failure, poor luteal function, long-term lactation neuromental stimulation (such as chlorpropyl, contraceptives, large amounts of estrogen, blood benefit parity). 10% to 15% of patients with polycystic ovary syndrome present with mild hyperprolactinemia, which may be caused by continuous stimulation of estrogen.
