Summary

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin Beta-subunit (β-HCG) is a sialoglycoprotein. Shortly after the fertilized egg is implanted in the uterine wall, the placenta's trophoblast cells begin to secrete HCG. After conception, blood β-HCG concentrations rise rapidly, making β-HCG a reliable marker for early diagnosis and detection of pregnancy. The detection of β-HCG is of great significance for the diagnosis of early pregnancy, plays a certain role in the auxiliary diagnosis and follow-up of acute abdomen, and has certain value in the diagnosis, identification and observation of the course of pregnancy-related diseases, trophoblastic tumors, liver cancer and other diseases. Clinically, it is mainly used for auxiliary diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy and early pregnancy.

The current clinical methods for detecting β-HCG include chemiluminescence, immunochromatography and so on.
