Intended use

The Fluorescent Immunoassay ProGRP kit is used for the quantitative determination of the concentration of pro-gastrin-releasing peptide (ProGRP) in human serum in vitro.

Summary

Gastrin-releasing precursor peptide (ProGRP) is the precursor structure of GRP, which widely exists in non-gastrin tissues, nerve fibers, neuroendocrine cells of brain and lung tissues, and exists stably in serum.

1. ProGRP will increase in the early stage of SCLC, while the early stage of lung cancer is generally asymptomatic or mild. Two-thirds of patients are already in the spreading stage when they are discovered, and the 5-year survival rate is less than 5%. If detected early, it can be treated surgically, and the five-year survival rate is as high as 70% to 80%.

2. In Japan, ProGRP has been listed as a routine physical examination item to achieve the effect of early diagnosis and early treatment of small cell lung cancer.

3. ProGRP is a sensitive marker to distinguish SCLC from benign lung cancer. Its sensitivity and specificity for SCLC are significantly higher than other lung cancer markers, which helps to detect treatment response and disease recurrence.
