Intended use
This device is intended to be used for the in vitro quantitative determination of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in human whole blood, serum or plasma. And it is for professional use only, not for self-testing of untrained individuals, nor for near-patient testing.
Summary
Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is a specific heparin-binding growth factor for vascular endothelial cells, which can induce neovascularization in vitro and in vivo. VEGF is a homodimeric glycoprotein, which is highly conserved. The dimer is composed of single chains with a molecular weight of 24 kD and disulfide bonds. Its monomer is inactive, and the N2 glycosyl group has no effect on its biological effects, but may play a role in cellular secretion. [1] VEGF is a growth factor that promotes angiogenesis and enhances vascular permeability, and can be used clinically as an auxiliary means for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of vascular proliferative diseases. [2]
The current clinical methods for detecting VEGF include chemiluminescence, immunochromatography and so on.
