Intended use
This device is intended to be used for the in vitro quantitative determination of total triiodothyronine (TT3) in human whole blood, serum or plasma. And it is for professional use only, not for self-testing of untrained individuals, nor for near-patient testing.
Summary
Total triiodothyronine (TT3) plays an important role in maintaining thyroid function. Determination of total triiodothyronine can be used as an important clinical indicator for the diagnosis of specific thyroid dysfunction. Most studies report that the total triiodothyronine value can clearly distinguish patients with hyperthyroidism from normal people. However, the dividing line between hypothyroidism and normal people is still unclear. During pregnancy and estrogen therapy, T3 will increase slightly. However, T3 decreases in the presence of renal failure, myocardial infarction, alcoholism, nutritional disorders or drug therapy (dopamine, glucocorticoids, methimazole, propranolol, propylthiouracil, salicylic acid). Therefore, the thyroid status cannot be judged by the value of T3 alone, but must be confirmed together with the values of T4 in the serum, and combined with other clinical observations and comprehensive factors. Current clinical methods for detecting TT3 include chemiluminescence method, immunochromatography method, and etc.
