Intended use

This device is intended to be used for the in vitro quantitative determination of insulin-like growth factor binding protein 1 (IGFBP-1) in human vaginal secretion specimens. And it is for professional use only, not for self-testing of untrained individuals, nor for near-patient testing.

Summary

Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein-I (IGFBP-I) is responsible for the storage and transport of insulin-like growth factor and is produced by liver cells and the decidua of pregnancy. When preterm labor occurs, there are structural changes in the lower uterine segment, separation of the chorion and decidua as well as the chorion and amniotic membrane, and the presence of IGFBP-I in cervical mucus [1]. As an important part of the insulin-like growth factor system, IGFBP-I plays an important regulatory role in embryonic development, endometrial differentiation, blastocyst implantation, placenta formation and development in early pregnancy [2]. Clinically, it is mainly used for auxiliary diagnosis of growth disorders and premature rupture of membranes.

The current clinical methods for detecting IGFBP-1 include chemiluminescence, immunochromatography and so on.
