Summary

Growth hormone (GH) is a peptide hormone secreted by eosinophils in the anterior pituitary [1]. It is a non-glycosylated protein hormone composed of 191 amino acids with a molecular weight of about 22000 [2]. It is secreted in a pulsatile manner in the body, mainly regulated by the dual regulation of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) and growth hormone-releasing inhibitory hormone (GHIH) produced by the hypothalamus. The level of GH in the body peaks during adolescence and gradually declines after adulthood. The main role of GH is to promote the body's production and development, material metabolism and reproductive physiological functions. Clinically, it is mainly used to assist in the evaluation of pituitary function and abnormal growth hormone levels caused by non-pituitary diseases.

The current clinical methods for detecting GH include chemiluminescence, immunochromatography and so on.
