Summary
G-17 is a gastrointestinal hormone secreted mainly by G cells in the gastric antrum and duodenum. Its secretion is mainly affected by the number of G cells, the pH value in the stomach and eating. It is a sensitive indicator that reflects the secretory function of the gastric antrum. It is useful in regulating the function of the digestive tract, maintaining its structural integrity, and diagnosing and screening atrophic gastritis and gastric cancer.
In human body, more than 95% of the biologically active gastrin is α-amidated gastrin, which mainly contains two isomers, G17 and G34, of which 80% to 90% is G-17. G17 is only secreted by G cells in the gastric antrum, so G-17 is an important indicator reflecting gastric mucosal damage and is used to screen and diagnose atrophic gastritis and gastric cancer. In patients with gastric antral atrophy, the number of G cells is reduced, and the G-17 level is reduced; in patients with gastric corpus atrophy, the oxyntic glands are reduced, and the stomach is in a low-acid state, resulting in increased G-17 levels; in patients with total gastric atrophy, G-17 is reduced ; The G-17 value in patients with early gastric cancer is abnormally increased or decreased.
