Intended use
The FIA HbA1c Test is intended for in vitro accuarate quantitative detection of HbA1c in whole blood and fingertip blood in 10 minutes with a CV of less than 5%.
It is a blood test to diagnose type 2 diabetes. It is also used to monitor blood glucose control in people with diabetes.
It is for professional use only.
Summary
HbA1c is short for glycated haemoglobin. The test is also sometimes called haemoglobin A1c. Haemoglobin (Hb) is the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen through your body. It is composed of HbA1a, HbA1b, and HbA1c, of which HbA1c accounts for about 70% and has a relatively stable structure. It is often used clinically as a monitoring indicator for diabetes control, and its concentration should be expressed as a percentage of adult hemoglobin.

HbA1c is the product of the combination of hemoglobin in red blood cells and sugars (mainly glucose) in the serum through a non-enzymatic reaction. The non-enzymatic reaction that forms glycated hemoglobin is continuous, slow, and irreversible. Therefore, the content of glycated hemoglobin is determined by the past rather than the immediate blood sugar concentration, and is related to whether you are fasting before the test, whether you inject insulin, whether you take hypoglycemic drugs, etc. The factors are irrelevant. It is generally believed that glycated hemoglobin concentration can effectively reflect the average blood sugar level in the past 8 to 12 weeks.
Why Test HbA1c?
This FIA HbA1c Test can provide strong evidence for your average blood glucose (sugar) levels for the last two to three months. It is the gold standard for measuring the level of blood sugar control. The normal value of glycated hemoglobin is between 4% and 6%. Patients with hyperlipidemia may have symptoms of increased glycated hemoglobin.

The normal value of glycated hemoglobin is less than 6.0. If the glycated hemoglobin is greater than or equal to 6.5, the possibility of diabetes is highly suspected; a glucose tolerance test of 75 grams of anhydrous glucose is required.
If the blood sugar exceeds the normal range, diabetes can be diagnosed. The HbA1c test will be affected by the hemoglobin value. If there is anemia, the FIA HbA1c Test will also show a low result; at this time, the glycated albumin can be further tested to clarify the current condition.
